Chantal Desloges was the guest speaker on May 8, 2018 at the Belleville Public Library.

This year's KMLS was a great success. The keynote speaker, Chantal Desloges, is a graduate of THS who has become a very successful immigration lawyer in Toronto. She opened her remarks by sharing some fond personal memories that she had from her time at THS, and recognized some of the teachers that made an impact on her as a student. Chantal's lecture was informative and powerful, describing the real life challenges faced by refugees, and their perspective in making the decision to leave their home countries for an often dangerous and uncertain path to safety in a new country. All of this was brought home with a focus on our current Canadian system, and the related issues that we often hear about in the media.
