May 2019 AGM HR/SW Report:
The Human Rights/Status of Women committee has spent the 2018/2019 school year focusing on awareness of issues in the Quinte region. We put out information on Christmas fundraising for 3 Oaks woman’s shelter, Orange the World and the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, Project ONRoute and human trafficking in the Quinte region, the Quinte Region Pride Parade, and we discussed issues facing our students.

We focused this year on awareness of the issues around us and on resource sharing.Links for educational videos were shared with the schools and books that could empower youth and teachers were presented at our monthly meetings. Our attention was toward collaboration between schools with a clear and consistent message on diversity and inclusivity being presented to all staff and students.

Members also partook in the Status of Women Conference, the HPEDSB Equity and Inclusivity committee, and the Canadian Centre for Gender and Sexual Diversity Conference for Educators.
